Drain & Sewer Services

Anyone can push a cable down a line. The question that matters is why it blocked. Root intrusion, a bellied line, a broken joint and a grease build-up all clear the same way and all come back on completely different schedules.

Drain and sewer work divides cleanly into two jobs: restoring flow, and understanding the line. Most providers do the first and skip the second, which is why so many properties have a drain that backs up on a predictable schedule and a maintenance budget that never seems to fix it.

Restoring flow is the urgent part. Understanding the line is the part that determines whether you are spending money once or every year.

Warning signs

  • More than one fixture draining slowly at the same time, especially on the lowest floor
  • Gurgling from a floor drain, tub or toilet when another fixture is used
  • Sewage odour near a floor drain, clean-out or exterior line
  • Water backing up into a shower or tub when a toilet is flushed
  • A patch of lawn or landscaping that stays wet or unusually green over the sewer line
  • Repeat blockages in the same line on a predictable cycle

What RePlumbify inspects and performs

  • Clear blocked branch drains, main lines and floor drains by cable or hydro-jetting where appropriate
  • Run camera inspection to identify the actual condition of the line and locate the defect
  • Locate and mark the line depth and path for planning and for other trades
  • Clear and service commercial kitchen lines and grease-affected branch lines
  • Repair or replace failed sections of drain, waste, vent and sewer piping
  • Provide condition reports and footage for owners, property managers and buyers

What to expect

  1. You tell us what is backing upWhich fixtures, how often, and whether it has happened before. Repeat blockages change the recommendation.
  2. We clear the immediate blockageRestoring flow comes first so the property is usable.
  3. We inspect the lineWhere the situation warrants it, a camera inspection tells you whether you have a maintenance problem or a structural one.
  4. You get the findings in writingCondition, location, depth and the specific defect if there is one — with video where the camera was run.
  5. You decide on the repairClearing a line and repairing a line are separate decisions with separate prices. You approve each one.

Residential and commercial

For homes and condominiums. For a single-family home, the most valuable outcome of a drain call is usually knowing whether you have a one-off blockage or a sewer line that is going to keep failing. A camera inspection answers that question, and it is worth doing before you buy a house or after the second backup.

For commercial and multifamily buildings. For restaurants, apartment buildings and commercial kitchens, drain service is a scheduled maintenance item rather than an emergency, and treating it that way is usually less expensive over a year than clearing lines as they fail. We can document line condition per building and per stack so recurring problems are visible in the record.

Questions

Drain & Sewer — frequently asked

Why does the same drain keep backing up?

Because the underlying condition was never identified. Cable clearing restores flow through an obstruction but does not change a root intrusion, a low spot holding water, an offset joint or a section of pipe that has lost its shape. A camera inspection is what separates a maintenance problem from a structural one.

Is hydro-jetting always better than cabling?

No. Jetting is the right tool for grease, sludge and scale in a line that is structurally sound. It is the wrong tool for a line that is already fractured or badly deteriorated. That is one of the reasons we look at the line before choosing the method.

Do you provide the camera footage?

Yes, where a camera inspection is performed we provide the footage and a written condition summary. Property managers and owners generally need it for their records, and buyers need it for negotiation.

Can you clear a line without access to the clean-out?

Sometimes, but access changes the method, the time and the cost. If you know where the clean-out is, tell us in the intake. If you do not, we can locate it.
